Hi guys, just wanted to tell you all about a great game called Trackmania nations forever. I've been playing this game for around 2 years and it never gets boring. Its mostly made for online play against other racers and was originally made for online e-sports. its totally free and I'll post a link at the bottom of this post.
For a free game the game play is fantastic. The controls are easy, just the arrow keys for accelerate, brake and change direction, or if you prefer to use a pad the game is compatible. Single player consists of different tracks ranging in difficulty and your aim is to beat the gold medal time on each track. Online play is made up of hundreds of servers from all countries, these servers usually play custom made tracks, which people make in the in game track editor (which is very simple and easy to use, more on that later). Most servers run their own records system for each of their tracks, say you get a time on one of their tracks and it says you have the number 5 record, it will be stored on the server for all to see until either the track is wiped off the server or the time is beaten.
The in built track editor is very easy to use, its just a case of clicking the track piece you want and placing it on the map. Once you have built a map your happy with you can save it and post it on www.tm-exchange.com for other people to try and either award you on the map or comment.
The editor also includes Paint, which means you can create your own car skin. The default skins depend on which nation you are from and is portraying your national flag, hence the Nations in the title.
The community is great for this game. There are several different websites concentrating on different aspects of the game, such as tm-exchange for track building, tm-carpark for sharing all your created car skins and also tm-creative for modding environments etc. Each website have helpful and friendly people there to help you.
I would highly recommend giving this a try, even if your not a racing fan. Its free, fun and addictive.
There are other versions of the game which you can buy. Trackmania United cost around £20 and this features more environments (like rally, desert, snow). If you like the free version i would recommend buying this also.
I'v linked to a video below to show you what its all bout, these are some of the more skilled players in the game.
